
North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services (DMH/DD/SAS)
The North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services (NC DMHDDSAS) in the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is the single state agency (SSA) for alcohol and other drug abuse prevention and treatment-related issues. The Division provides leadership in the planning, development, and organization of a statewide system of alcohol and other drug services. In addition, the Division coordinates and communicates policies and strategies that educate, encourage, and empower individuals, families, organizations, and local communities to respond proactively to alcohol and other drug prevention, education, intervention, and treatment issues.
The Community Policy Management Section of the Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services administers the North Carolina Preventing Underage Drinking Initiative and the Federal OJJDP Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Program.

University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNC-G)
Through a contract from the North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services (NC DMHDDSAS), UNC-G serves as the project management organization for the Federal Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Program (EUDL) of the North Carolina Preventing Underage Drinking Initiative. In this capacity, UNC-G:
- Implements the development, evaluation and training associated with environmental strategies to prevent underage alcohol use, as directed by the State and supported by the OJJDP EUDL Program.
- Provides training, technical assistance, implementation and evaluation of Media Ready, a research-based media literacy program for 11-15 year old youth, designed to delay or prevent the onset of substance use, particularly with respect to underage drinking.
